Rita Martinico

Rita is a metis (mixed blood) apprentice to WhiteEagle, Keeper of the Origin Teachings of the Delicate Lodge. She has been training in and living the Indigenous Earth Wisdom Teachings (Medicine Way) for over 17 years. She spent ten years practicing and facilitating traditional Earth Ceremonies before coming to the Origin Teachings of the Delicate Lodge eight years ago. Rita has brought the Earth Wisdom Teachings into different communities through a variety of ways; through her work in the nonprofit sector, through open ceremonies available to different communities,  and through private ceremonies for individuals by request.

For several years Rita was the director of the youth department in a domestic violence family resource center in Santa Cruz California.  She was the lead in the implementation of large state and federal grants that provided prevention and intervention services to young men and women in Santa Cruz County.  Rita was instrumental in reforming the implementation of gender specific services provided county wide for teenaged girls. Her charismatic leadership was a highly sought-after asset as a chairperson in multiple county collaboratives.

Rita brings a wide range of life expression through her sincerety, playfulness, integrity, high commitment, nurturing abilities and through her gift of being able to articulate vast and complex concepts in the simplest of ways.  She has a deep and sincere reverence for the sanctity of life and brings this to all of her interactions. Her sense of humor keeps everyone laughing and her love of the Medicine Teachings inspires us all.
